Cyrus Rustom Todiwala OBE, DL is an Indian chef proprietor of Café Spice Namasté and a celebrity television chef. He was trained at the Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces chain in India, and rose to become Group executive chef for Goa. He moved to the UK in 1991 with his family, and following some initial difficulties joined Restaurateur Michael Gottlieb and opened Café Spice Namasté in 1995, the restaurant for which he is best known. Café Spice Namasté has held a coveted Michelin BIB Gourmand for 23 years, and were the pioneers in the UK hospitality industry's campaign for environment and sustainability. Cafe Spice Namasté also pioneered extensive work in training and development but also for others. He subsequently launched a range of condiments and sauces known by the brand name Mr. Todiwala's, and a second restaurant Cafe Spice Namasté 2 in Battersea. A third restaurant called The Parsee was launched in 2000. In 2010 called Mr Todiwala's Kitchen was launched & located at the Hilton at Heathrow Airport near Terminal 5. A second Hilton restaurant was called ASSADO specialising in Goan Portuguese cuisine. A second Mr. Todiwalas Kitchen was launched in 2018 at The Curio by Hilton Canary Wharf. Simultaneously a very local restaurant called Mr. Todiwala’s PETISCOS was launched in Buckhurst Hill in Essex specialising in Goan / Portuguese Tapas. He was awarded an MBE in 2000, appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London in 2007 and awarded an OBE in 2009. He has also been awarded an honorary doctorate and been made an honorary professor. In 2012, he cooked for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. He has appeared on numerous television and radio programmes, such as the BBC radio four, and others BBC 1 Saturday KITCHEN and Saturday Morning with James Martin.
